Questions most
frequently asked of Good Shepherd Youth Ministries?
Q: What is available for
my child at Good Shepherd?
A: There are a
tremendous number of ministry opportunities available for
youth of all ages. Both junior high and high school
students have weekly program available to them. The junior
high students have confirmation
on Sunday mornings
and The Bridge
with DiG Deep
on Wednesday nights. High
school students have The Alter Sunday
school on Sunday morning, and
DiG Deep
groups meet throughout the
week in various locations. In addition to the weekly
activities, both age groups have various activities
(fellowship and service projects) almost every month.
There are also two retreats each year for both age
groups. It is our desire to see you child grow in the
love of Christ and we love spending time with them and
their friends!
Q: How do I know that my
child will be safe at an GSLC event?
A: Good Shepherd
verifies the safety of all of its volunteer leaders using
background checks. At every event or retreat we will have
an adult to student ration of 1:10 and have both male and
female leaders present. Each of our camps and retreats will
be staffed by a trained medical professional whose only job
is to provide the necessary care when needed. Our leaders
are given necessary training to help ensure the best
possible safety of your child.
Q: Are friends welcome at
activities?
A: Of course! We
seek to provide a safe and secure environment for all
students and we strongly encourage students to invite
friends.
Q: What on earth is The
Trench?
A: A lot of the
youth activities say that they take place in The Trench.
The Trench is Good Shepherd's youth room which is located
in the basement of the church underneath the Fellowship
Hall. The room is full of some awesome things including a
rock wall, full sound system for worship, x-box game
stations, air hockey and more! The Trench is a great place
to hang out with friends and grow in your relationship with
the Lord!
Q: Who (or what) is Ffej?
A: Ffej is our
youth ministry director, Jeff Stephenson! He has been on
staff with us for nearly 12 years and has affectionately
earned the nickname - Ffej. This strange name that has a
tendency to be mis-pronounced is just Jeff spelled
backwards.
